A moot court was held among high school students.

The debate was jointly organized by the Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau with the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, and the program was attended by students, school representatives, parents, education experts and other relevant stakeholders.

Addis Ababa City Administration Education Office Civics and Ethics Curriculum Specialist Ato Gebeyehu Asfau explained that the debate was held between selected 11th grade students who had the best results in civics and ethics education from each district and announced that the debate was judged by regular court judges.

The expert pointed out that a mock trial debate between students not only enables students to raise their awareness of human rights and to be able to sue if they experience human rights violations, but also helps students to develop their ability to express their thoughts freely in front of people.

The debate was divided into 6 groups and the students who competed on behalf of Asaye School located in Kirkos Sub-city, Mikias Kebede and Fanan Siyum won and confirmed that they will represent Addis Ababa in the same competition held at the national level.
