The Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau held a
discussion with the command post organization established to monitor the
process of the 2015 6th and 8th grade city-wide exam.
Officials of the sub-city education office, including the
leaders of the city administration, sub-city peace and security, and police
commission, took part in the discussion.
Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau Head, Dr.
Zelalem Mulatu, in his explanation regarding the exam execution process,
mentioned that the 6th grade exam will be given for the first time by the city
administration according to the new curriculum. The administration has
announced that the educational structure will work together with the police and
other relevant security forces as usual so that the examination process can be
completed without any security problems from the first day to the end at all
the examination centers.
Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau Director of
Exam Preparation and Management Directorate, Dinaol Chala, said that in 2015,
75,090 students of the 6th grade at 182 test stations and 75,100 students of
the 8th grade at 182 test stations were given admission cards to all students.
He stressed that he cannot go to the examination center with a mobile phone.
This year, more than 2000 test takers for both grade level
examinations at all examination centers; Over 500 supervisors; It has been
announced that 182 exam center officials have been assigned to conduct the exam
and a command post has been set up to monitor the exam process from the office
to the exam centers.

The
7th round of city-wide reading culture week with the theme "Reading for
sustainable development" was started at Ethio-Cuba Friendship Pork.
In
the 7th round of the city-wide reading culture week, the Minister of Culture
and Sports Mrs. Worknesh Bru, Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau
Advisor Mr. Tilahun Fikadu, Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau Head
Dr. Hirut Kasau, senior managers and students of the office called. It was held
in the presence of the guests.
In
his opening speech, the head of Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau,
Dr. Hirut Kasau, said that our country is on the path of development, and
development comes only when there is an open mind. He said that reading culture
week has been organized in an effort to emphasize that reading is a great
foundation for creating a citizen who is armed with knowledge.
The
Minister of Culture and Sports, Mrs. Worknesh Bru, who was the guest of honor,
said that if a person reads, he can become everything. Reading is the food of
the mind. Currently, our government is giving importance to reading.
The
guests of honor present on the day officially launched the bookstore.
During
the three-day reading culture week festival, competitions will be held to help
develop the reading culture among students.

Early Childhood Development Movement Week

Mayor
Adanech Abebe launched the Early Childhood Development Movement Week under the
theme "Children are the hope of the future for Addis Ababa".
The
mayor said that children from fetus to six years of age need attention so that
they can develop mentally and physically, and with the movement we have
launched today, mothers, guardians and stakeholders will work to have an
understanding of child rearing.
Mayor
Adanech said that today we have signed a cooperation agreement with Addis Ababa
University to carry out research-based work to transfer pre-primary education.
He
said that the city administration has approved the first early childhood road
map in the country and started work.
The
mayor's office has indicated that the administration of the city, which is
working to prepare 12,000 playgrounds for children in the next three years, has
completed 59 of them this year.
During
the Early Childhood Week, awareness activities are carried out around child
rearing.

The Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau has
completed the city-wide Science Innovation Fair which has been held at
Friendship Square for the past 3 days.
The exhibition was held for the 8th time this year under the
theme of the generation developed through science and technology for the
prosperity of the country. In addition to visiting the creative works of
students and teachers from government and private schools, the students and
teachers who presented the best innovations were recognized.
Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau Head, Dr.
Zelema Mulatu, in his message at the conclusion of the program, stated that in
the science and technology innovation fair that was held for the past three
days, students and teachers not only showed their knowledge and skills to the community,
but also exchanged experiences and healthy competition took place. He said that
he is already doing the necessary work.
Addis Ababa Education Bureau Deputy Head, Ato Umer pointed
out that this year's science and technology fair achieved its goal and
presented creative works that solve the problems of the society.
The guest of honor of
the closing program, Mr. Solomon Amare, Head of the Science and Innovation
Office of Addis Ababa City Administration, stated that creative works presented
by students and teachers are the basis for the development of science and
technology.
At the conclusion of the fair, the students and teachers who
presented the best innovations in the two curriculums were recognized, and the
winners of the sub-districts were presented with trophies and certificates of
appreciation by the guests of honor.

discussion was held around an observation conducted at Akato Education Support
Centers located in 78 schools.
The
observation was conducted at the Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau
under the coordination of the Directorate of Special Needs/Akato Education and
Basic Education for Adults by the office supervisors and experts including the
leaders and experts of the city sector.

Addis
Ababa City Administration Education Bureau in collaboration with Addis Ababa
Early Childhood Development and Care Coordination Bureau held a discussion with
investors and representatives of private schools that provide pre-primary
education.
In
the discussion, Dr. Tabor Gebremedhin, the coordinator of the program,
discussed the status of the activities being carried out in the early childhood
development and care program in Addis Ababa.
As
the Early Childhood Development and Care Program is a program based on the
holistic development of children, the Addis Ababa Education Bureau has been
carrying out various activities in the past four years from providing training
to teachers in government pre-primary schools. They announced that today's
discussion will make a significant contribution so that private schools can
implement the program in every school.

Manager Mr. Dannew Gebru said that the work done in public schools through the
early childhood development and care program of the city administration is
designed to make pre-primary school students successful. He pointed out that

Students
visited the Federal Police Office.
Students
and teachers of 1st and 2nd secondary schools in the 11 sub-cities of Addis
Ababa city visited the Federal Police Office.
During
the visit, M/C Gen. Nabiyu Danne, who conveyed a welcome message to the
students, explained that the police has many professional skills in the field
and said that he has a professional responsibility to the extent of giving his
life for the security of the country.
Students
also said that it will help them to see the work of police and people working
together and help their country in the police profession. The Federal Police
Bureau promised to the students that they will visit the Police Training
University in Sandafa.
On
his part, Addis Ababa City Administration Education Office Head Mr. Sisay Zifal
appreciated the fact that the Federal Police Office organized the visit for
students and said that it will help students to highlight their role in the
country's peace and security and increase their patriotism.
During
the visit, a documentary film showing the transformational activities of the
Federal Police was presented, and the students were allowed to visit the
command control and digital communication radio units, as well as the modern
cars used for police activities.

A
national day of gratitude and Thanks giving was celebrated.
The Ministry of Education, together with the
Addis Ababa City Administration Education Bureau, Qen Ethiopia, the Government
Communication Service, the Ministry of Peace and other sector offices,
celebrated the annual National Thanks giving Day at the Millennium Hall with
various programs.
State
Minister of Education Phanta Mandefro (Dr.) stated that the ministry is working
to make the next generation of the nation morally educated and value respect
and admiration by including practical education in the curriculum as a part of
regular education. He also mentioned the role that teachers play in determining
the fate of the generation and the country and expressed their appreciation,
gratitude and respect to teachers.
Dr.
Tolosa Gudina, the founder of Kon Ethiopia Association, asked parents to advise
their children of love, peace, hard work, patience, sincerity, gratitude and
understanding, and to act as role models for their children. Students conveyed
a message to be citizens who benefit themselves and their country by using
technology properly and systematically.
The
day of gratitude and surprise is celebrated every year in all regions and
cities, administrations and schools.

special needs students

program of measuring the uniforms of special needs students, which has been

It
was necessary to measure the students before when they were presented in
uniform with other students because they had difficulty using the uniform
properly due to the fact that it did not match with their revision, so for the
